Loice Mattins Wines was never just about crafting wine. It was born from a longing to stay connected to home.
At fifteen, I left Zimbabwe to begin a new life in California. Like many who leave home in search of new opportunities, I carried the excitement of what was ahead while learning to live with the distance from the people and places I loved most.
Years later, when I turned twenty-one, my father and I started a tradition that would change everything. Living on different continents meant we couldn’t always share the same table, but we found another way to stay connected. We’d each pour a glass of wine and send one another a photo. Those photos became a simple way of sharing our lives, celebrating life’s moments, and reminding each other that distance didn’t have to mean disconnection. What began as a small tradition became the inspiration behind Loice Mattins Wines.
Those moments changed the way I saw wine. It became more than something to enjoy. It became a symbol of home, conversation, celebration, and the people we love.
